Situationships Play Truth or Drink | Cut

The game asks them directly: are you exclusive?, Cut studio, Seattle, WA, 2024. The situationship is the defining relationship structure of the 2020s — emotionally loaded, contractually empty.

Who: People in situationships — at least one pair who have been "talking" for six-plus months without naming what they are, a duo where one person clearly wants more and the other clearly knows it, and a third pairing navigating whether seeing other people is allowed when they never said it wasn't.

What: The game asks them directly: are you exclusive? Do you want to be? Are you seeing anyone else? Have you caught feelings? The answers — and the silences before them — do what months of not-quite-dating didn't. At least one person says something that changes the room. One pair leaves the episode with a clearer picture of where things stand than they had walking in. Whether that clarity is welcome is a different question.

Where: Cut studio, Seattle, WA

When: 2024

Why: The situationship is the defining relationship structure of the 2020s — emotionally loaded, contractually empty. Watching people try to define the undefinable under game-show pressure is a genuine cultural document.
