Who: Black American residents of New York City, approached by filmmaker Ami Horowitz in a street interview format; contrasted against footage of progressive commentators

What: Horowitz's signature format: he plays clips of white liberal commentators arguing that voter ID laws are racist and that Black people struggle to obtain ID, then asks Black New Yorkers on the street for their reactions. The responses are uniformly dismissive of the liberal framing — respondents push back, saying they have ID, their friends have ID, and the paternalistic argument is itself condescending. The video was released February 4, 2026 as the SAVE Act cleared the House.

Where: New York City, NY

When: 2026

Why: Ami Horowitz's format is transparent: he plays clips of white liberal commentators arguing voter ID harms Black voters, then asks Black New Yorkers on the street for their reactions. The structure is designed to make a point and does not pretend otherwise. What it captures in the process — Black New Yorkers, published February 4, 2026 as the SAVE Act cleared the House, calling the liberal assumptions "ignorant" and "racist themselves" — is genuine testimony from real people responding to actual clips. The pull quote is not the narrator's interpretation; it is what people on the sidewalk in New York City said.
